norwegian krone

The Norwegian Krone (NOK) is the official currency of Norway, first introduced in 1875. It is identified by the ISO 4217 code NOK and is commonly represented by the symbols kr or Nkr. The krone used to have a subunit called øre, which was discontinued in May 2012. The issuance and management of the Norwegian Krone are overseen by Norges Bank (the central bank of Norway). Currently, circulating Norwegian Krone banknotes include denominations of 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 kroner, along with coins of 1, 5, 10, and 20 kroner.
