United Arab Emirates dirham

The Dirham (AED) is the official currency in the United Arab Emirates, and it has been in circulation since 1973. It is represented by the ISO 4217 code AED, and its symbol is typically denoted as د.إ. The issuance and management of the Dirham are the responsibility of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates. The subunit of the Dirham is the "Fils," where 1 Dirham equals 100 Fils. Currently, there are banknotes in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 Dirhams, along with coins in values of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 Fils, as well as 1 Dirham. As the number of Hong Kong residents traveling to the United Arab Emirates has increased, several local money changers in recent years have expanded their services to include the exchange of dirhams. According to Passto, there are 17 money changers in Hong Kong that offer buying and selling services for the UAE dirham.
