The Brazilian Real (BRL) is the official currency of Brazil, and it has been in circulation since 1994. It is represented by the ISO 4217 code BRL, and its symbol is commonly denoted as R$. The issuance and management of the Brazilian Real are the responsibility of the Central Bank of Brazil, which is part of the federal government. Currently, there are banknotes in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 Reais, along with coins in values of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 cents, and 1 Real.
