The Jordanian Dinar is the offical currency of Jordan, with issuance beginning in 1950. Its ISO 4217 code is JOD, commonly represented by the symbol JD. The Jordanian Dinar has three subunits: Piastres (also known as Qirsh), and Fils. 1 Dinar equals 100 Piastres or 1000 Fils. Currently, there are banknotes in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 Jordanian Dinars, along with coins in values of 0.5, 1, 2.5, 5, 10 Piastres, and 0.25, 0.5, 1 Dinar.
