Sri Lankan rupee

The Sri Lankan Rupee is the offical currency of Sri Lanka, introduced in 1972. Its ISO 4217 code is LKR, usually represented by the symbols ₨ or රු. The issuance and management of the currency fall under the responsibility of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Currently, there are banknotes in denominations of 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, and 5000 Sri Lankan Rupees, along with coins in values of 1, 2, 5, 10, and 20 Rupees.
