The Colombian Peso is the official currency of Colombia and has been in circulation since 1837. Its ISO 4217 code is COP. It is commonly represented by the symbols $ or COL$. The issuance and management of the Colombian Peso are overseen by the Banco de la República (Bank of the Republic). Currently, there are banknotes in denominations of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000, 20000, and 50000 Colombian Pesos. Additionally, there are coins in values of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000 Colombian Pesos.
